Hey everyone. Welcome to EP 8. This is one of those moments where everything just falls into place. I didn't put any planning behind this mix - I just walked into the studio, slapped some headphones on, hit record and went for it. And I'm glad I did. Reminiscent of the mixes I use to drop at Milwaukee's Park Bar3, there's a lot of tribal Latin rhythms; deep soulful vocals; and some banging beats in here. No electro, no gimmicks, just pure house music. Some people call it getting back to basics; I call it getting back to house. And it feels good to be home.
Thank you for your support. I hope you enjoy it.
Best,
Michael

For this podcast, I decided to dig out a mix I released a few years ago on CD. This is one my favorite mixes. Inspired by chic ultra lounges, it starts off with a slow, sexy vibe and then builds up from there. I play everything from downtempo trip hop to tech to tribal and bring in some acid house. Rounding out the mix, I end things with one of my favorite drum and bass tracks of all time. This is the kind of mix you put on when you just want to chill, whether you're staying in for the night getting some loving, or just getting in the next morning from going out. Thanks for taking the time to listen... Enjoy!
Much love and respect!

EP 6 - Return to: Chicago Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of the "Return to: Chicago" mix. Picking up where we left off last week, I revisit some classic Chicago house. Starting off with an old disco loop on DJ Sneak's 2008 mix of "All Over My Face," I chose to play some tracks that marked some special times in my career. Daft Punk's remix of "Disco Cubism" by iCube was often heard in my early at the famed Tuesday night WeHo event, "EO." And another DJ Sneak classic, "You Can't Hide From Your Bud" became a staple track in my sets for several years, and even today, a decade later, still finds itself in my sets. A nod to the days at Arena, I played Cajmere and Dajae's epic "Brighter Days" - a track with an unmistakable bounce to it. And last, but certainly not least, I close out the mix with "Move Your Body" by Marshall Jefferson, the godfather of house music.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to listen. I hope you enjoyed this just as much as I did. And be on the look out for other mixes in the "Return to:" series as I plan to visit Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, New York, Detroit, and Paris.

Again, thank you for your support! Much love.
Michael

Welcome to the first in my new series, "Return to:" where I focus the mix on a particular city. These cities are places that have shaped me musically, either by the residencies I've held there or by the times I've shared there. I couldn't think of any other city to kick off this series than Chicago, the birthplace of house music. I first discovered Chicago house music at the age of 13 when a friend went to Chicago on vacation and brought home a Fast Eddie mixtape. From the first time I heard that music, I was hooked. Since then, the Chicago sound and its long list of musical innovators have left an indelible mark on the face of dance music as we know it. These tracks mark some of the best times of my life, both as a DJ and as a spectator.
It's been almost 10 years since I first got to visit Chicago and when my career really began to change. Landing my first major residency at Milwaukee's ParkBar3, I was able to open for some of Chicago's greatest DJs, such as Derrick Carter, DJ Colette and Bad Boy Bill. These were some of the greatest moments of my life and it brings me great joy to share these tracks with you. Thank you for taking the time to walk down memory lane with me. We'll be back next week with Welcome to: "Chicago Part 2." Until then, much love.... And as always, thank you for your support...

EP 4 got such an overwhelming response that I decided to include the rest of the mix as a bonus treat for you. Here is an additional 50 minutes or so from the KUMA TV broadcast that EP 4 was recorded from. As always, thank you for your support!
Much love!

I've gotten a lot of requests to record a podcast for the drum & bass fans out there. I decided it was time to take a (temporary/experimental) departure from house and try something different. Having gotten my break as a jungle DJ in the early 90s, it felt great to get back into some dubstep and drum & bass for this mix - I hope you enjoy it. As always, much love and respect. Thank you for your support.

I know, I know, I know.... This has taken a long time. San Diego Gay Pride asked me to put together a one hour mix for their recent volunteer appreciation event. I figured, why not record it and make it a podcast? So, for EP 3, I wanted to do something a little more pop friendly. In this mix you'll hear some Missy Elliott; Madonna; Black Eyed Peas; Axwell, Ingrosso, Angello, Laidback Luke ft. Deborah Cox; Britney Spears; Daft Punk; and Tiga to name a few. I tried to add my own twist and chose obscure remixes and styles. Hope you enjoy it! And EP 4 will be out soon! Promise!

Welcome to Episode 2. For my second podcast, I picked out a handful of songs about hope, heartache, love, and love lost. Each song delivers a specific message - whether it's regret for an ongoing mistake (Angel); giving thanks for finding your true love (Shield/Finally); or losing that true love (Misty Blue). Each of these tracks has a special place in my heart and on the dancefloor. I dedicate this podcast to anyone who has ever loved, wanted to love, or has lost love. And to my wonderful partner of 7 years, thank you for giving me the sight to see beyond the present, the patience to find the focus, and the wisdom to make the right decisions when the time arrived. Thank you for what was an amazing ride.

Much love and respect to all of you out there....

Michael
